So pretty! This beautiful church is situated up the hill from the main street of Rosendal. The view is breathtaking from all sides. The mountains frame it in a picturesque scenery.

While the church is somewhat small, its size and plainness says a lot about the modesty of rural Norwegian Lutheranism. The stone corners juxtaposed with the white stucco gives the church a clear sense of depth, especially against the natural summertime green background. The view from the church is absolutely beautiful.

It's the church my family has attended since 1650. The ship hanging from the ceiling is a model of a sister ship built in Rosendal. Make sure to look behind the alter at the front, it's blocking a beautiful stained glass window. The Barron's caskets are in the little room next to the preacher's office on the right.

Looks a splendid church - from the outside.I was very disappointed to find it locked at midday in late July.Given the well used daily boat trip from Bergen I would have expected this church to be open even if only for few hours.
