Ein unfassbar schöner Ort. Die Autofahrt hier hin ist ein kleines Abenteuer. Es geht durch schmale Straßen, dunkle Tunnel und an wunderschönen Seen vorbei. Der Blick auf einen Gletscher ist hier schon traumhaft.Es lohnt sich hier zu Campen. Den Ort sollte man gesehen haben. Es gibt ein Plumpsklo. Straßenmaut für PKW 70 NOK.Obwohl wir auch einfach nur an diesem Ort hätten verweilen können, haben wir uns für eine Wanderung zum Austerdalsbreen entschieden. Moderate Wanderung, teilweise rutschige Stellen, mehrere kleine Brücken, die über den Gletscherfluss gehen. Anfangs steinig und matschig… wird dann aber deutlich angenehmer zu wandern. Wanderschuhe (und Stöcke) lohnen sich. Wir haben insgesamt 4 Stunden für Hin- und Rückweg gebraucht.

Wonderfull valley with beautiful views on multiple arms of the gletsjer. The road to this valley is very narrow and windy. You pass multiple dark tunnels with only one lane. Would not recommend for larger vehicles. The last portion of the road you have to pay toll (70NOK for a small vehicle). You can pay with card, paypal, and cash. Definetly worth the prices as this is used to clean the 3 public toilets, and you may wild camp in the valley.A big open valley allows for wild camping with camper as well as tents (close to the houses it's grassy and flat).Lastly, you can hike to the Australdalsbreen, a side arm of the gletsjer. The hike starts with a hilly and muddy section, followed by a flat valley. In the end you have a small hill around the corner. The end of the path gives view to the magnificent gletsjer. The hike is 12 km, with 270 m elevation, and it took us with breaks 5 hours).

Toller Parkplatz für eine fantastische Wanderung zum Austerdalsbreen.Die Straße über Veitastrond zum Parkplatz ist ein echtes Abenteuer.Man fährt durch einige Tunnel, die meisten unbeleuchtet, einspurig und kilometerlang. Das macht echt Spaß und wenn Gegenverkehr kommt, nutzt man eine der zahlreichen Ausweichmöglichkeiten im Tunnel.

Einfach klasse dort. Schon die Fahrt dorthin ist ein Abenteuer. Schmale nicht beleuchtete Tunnel mit nur einer Fahrspur und ausweichfeldern sind schon einfach irre. Durchhalten ist die Devise. Oben muss man eine private Maut bezahlen. 75 Kronen für PKW und 300 für Kastenwagen oder Busse. Ab dem Parkplatz läuft man eine Route zum Gletscher die relativ gut zu meistern ist. Über Nacht kann man in einigen Seitenwegen gut übernachten.

Nice parking lot where you can also camp the morning before your hike. It has a public pit toilet, a beautiful view and a lot of space. Very cold though and 0 reception.The way there is a lot of one way traffic, don’t drive fast through corners without view, and let locals behind you pass you on passings. A small toll for the nature reserve road as is usual in Norway.
