Old Hjelme Church captures some of the essence of rural Norwegian Lutheranism: tranquility and simplicity. The church's architecture is plain and conventional but warm and beautiful at the same time. The setting here is a nearly perfect stereotype for Sotra: lots of green and rocks flanked by boat houses and the sea. This place is really worth a visit. Bring a picnic lunch; there's a picnic table just adjacent to the parking area.
