Might be a pretty city, but hiking & (wild) camping is really tough around here without taking the pricey (~35€ per ride) gondola to the mountain where most of the nicer hikes start. When we asked for open camping spots we didn't get a real answer and were just told to take the gondola up the hill. So for anyone not interested in being forced to pay over and over again to get to the top of the mountain where the fun starts, I can't recommend Voss.

Beautiful area to visit & spend time! Lakes, hiking, bike& kayak rentals. Easy to get around the region with train& bus service. We visited in the summer.
